Peninsula Neighborhood Named “Best New Residential Development ” in Iowa |
Iowa City, IA, June 10, 2005: |
| “We’re very pleased to have been selected,” said Kevin Morrow, project manager for The Peninsula Neighborhood. “It’s gratifying to be recognized for what we’re trying to accomplish. This award honors the hard work and vision, not only of The Peninsula Development Company, but also the City’s Planning and Community Development Office as well as the area builders and the Peninsula residents who are working to create this neighborhood-in-progress.” |
| Karin Franklin, director of the Iowa City Department of Planning and Community Development, remarked: “The City's goal in pursuing the Peninsula project was to create a walkable, diverse urban neighborhood close to the heart of Iowa City. It is gratifying to have recognition of the Peninsula project by 1000 Friends of Iowa, an organization that advocates for sustainable development and against urban sprawl.” |

| 1000 Friends of Iowa is a statewide organization that promotes responsible land use. Additional awards were given this year for commercial, residential and civic projects in Dubuque, Grinnell and Clinton. |
| The Peninsula Neighborhood is a Traditional Neighborhood Design project located at the west end of Foster Road, near the Dubuque St. / I-80 interchange, in Iowa City. Condos, rowhouses and lots for single family homes are currently available. |
